Carpet steam cleaning is one of the easier cleaning services to price, because most of the cost follows the number of rooms. Here is how it works, what counts as a room and what can add to the total.
Prices per room
These come from our online calculator. They are before GST; 10% GST is added on your quote and invoice:

What counts as a room
Rooms are counted as you enter them in the calculator. Two areas need a closer look:
- Open-plan spaces. A large lounge and dining area that flows together may count as more than one room. Mention it in the notes and we confirm before the visit.
- Hallways and stairs. These vary a lot from home to home. Describe them in the notes so the price covers them.
What adds to the cost
Stain treatment
General traffic marks are treated as part of the clean. Individual stains that need extra treatment — wine, coffee, food or pet accidents — are priced per stain. Some marks, such as dye, bleach or burns, change the fibre itself and cannot be removed by cleaning. We tell you on the day what to expect.
Rugs, sofas and mattresses
Rugs can be cleaned on site in the same visit. Sofas, chairs and mattresses are separate items with their own prices; booking them together saves arranging another visit.
What affects the result
We clean around large furniture that cannot be moved safely, so the floor underneath it is not cleaned. Clearing the floor beforehand gives the best result; our guide to preparing for carpet steam cleaning has a checklist.
What is not part of carpet cleaning
- Repairs, re-stretching or replacing underlay
- Removing permanent stains that have changed the fibre
If the carpet needs repairs, that is a job for a carpet layer, not a cleaner.
Moving out?
If you are cleaning carpets for the end of a lease, carpet cleaning can be added to an end of lease clean and booked in the same visit.
